Shellie C Stapp is the Owner and Director of Stapp Production in Amarillo, Texas: Producer/Director, Talent Scout, TV/Radio Production and Marketing and Performing Arts Training. Her experience in the entertainment business started at a very young age. She started performing at age 6, as a vocalist with a live band and as a fashion and commercial model. Growing up with a talented family in the entertainment business as a Jazz/Show Band, which has performed all over the America including Canada. On Television, opened for Bob Hope and Cal Jader, USO Tours, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Ambassador of Japan and more. Released two labeled Jazz albums and was on the TOP 10 on Billboard. The band leader Jimmy James (stage name) Jimmy James Stapp is a vocalist and plays electric Jazz guitar, bass and producing music arrangements. Also Patti James Stapp is a vocalist and plays percussion's and also featured in the Jazz/Show Band. Shellie traveled and has sang with the band, and played percussion's on one of their albums, and still sings professional. She has lived from the East Coast to the West Coast and residing in places such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, California, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Honolulu, Hawaii, Sun Valley, Idaho and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and more. This gave Shellie the opportunity to study dance, theatre and vocal training from a broad variety of instructors and professionals. She has studied classical ballet including pointe, jazz, tap and competitive gymnastics for over 22 years. And Shellie has also won in local and state pageants and talent contests. While in college she was a Teacher's Assistant in Gymnastics and a Dance Company Member.
Shellie was honored to assist back stage before a Bob Hope Show. Before the opening of the show, she was thrilled to visit with the legendary Bob Hope and his wife Dolores Hope. Other experiences were with Comedian Jerry Lewis, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Oprah Winfrey, Dancer Rudolph Nureyev, The Kennedy Family, Olympic Gymnast Mary Lou Retton, Numerous Miss Texas's (America) Television journalist Paula Zahn, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Sky West, Jazz Musicians Dave Brubeck and Winton Marsalis, Don Ho, Ambassador of Japan and Actor/Producer Bill Daily. Stapp Production has been featured in Style Magazine with a 5 page article and pictures.
Shellie was born in San Francisco, and grew up in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon which is where she starting teaching dance and gymnastics for the Extended Education Programs for Portland Public School District and ultimately opened Stapp's School of Dance in Portland, Oregon. Shellie founded, directed and choreographed for a Portland Dance Team and Cheerleading Team. She has choreographed and or performed in Bye, Bye Birdie, Music Man, Something Happened on the Way to the Forum, A One Woman Show…Dance and the Portland Rose Parade.
After successfully selling “Stapp’s School of Dance” to “Oregon School of Dance” in Portland, Shellie then moved to Texas. She likes to say “I might not have been born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could”. Shellie continued and is currently teaching dance and tumbling with a division of Stapp Production called Stapp’s Physical Development Programs, where she has had as many as 350 students a week. Programs consists of instruction in Ballet, Jazz, Creative Movement and Tumbling. Shellie is certified in Fitness and Nutrition and also in CPR and First Aid.
Shellie has been represented by an Amarillo Modeling and Talent Agency. She is a make up artist, runway and print model, commercial actor/voice overs. Some of her featured commercials were Pizza Plant, Daydreams and Playthings, Color Tyme Rent to Own, Blackburn’s Department Store, NutraSystems, First Impression, Llano Cemetery and Mausoleum, Food King, Espresso Attic, Sister by Heart, Amarillo Tri-State Fair, Dr. Whitehead Chiropractic, Humitech Humidity Control Systems (Infomercial and was sold on QVC), Warehouse Solutions, Buzula Furniture Outlet and Amazing Blinds and Shutters.
Shellie has also been a make up artist for “Oprah Winfrey Show in Texas” and has done make up for World News Commentator Paula Zahn, NBC Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Olympic Skater, Debbie Thomas, The Hansons, Dillard’s special events, First Impression, photography and portfolio shoots, fashion shows, theater productions and more.
Chateau Wally Films out of California hired Shellie to be the vocal instructor and choreographer for actor Kaitlyn Lewis who played Jenetta in the Lifetime Television Movie, “What Matters Most”. A major division of Stapp Production, is Shellie's current role as Producer, writer, co - editor, spokesperson and coordinator for all of Buzula Furniture Outlet's Radio and Television Commercial Marketing. (Also, with their former name Warehouse Solutions Wholesale Furniture Club). She has produced and created over 42 commericals for this company. Buzula Furniture Outlet is a large furniture store which has a 70,000 square foot Showroom and Warehouse.
In 1990, Shellie became Executive Producer, Associate Director and Choreographer for the Miss Amarillo Area Scholarship Organization (Miss America Organization) for 15 years where she has been a featured dancer and or vocalist in Pageant Productions. She also received accolades for her pageant productions by Miss Texas Organization. Miss Amarillo Area Pageant had over 1,500 in attendance, per pageant year. Out of the 15 years, Miss Amarillo Area’s had placed 12th or higher in the Miss Texas (America) Pageant. Two Miss Amarillo Area's won the title of Miss Texas and competed at the Miss America Pageant placing in the TOP 10 and winning a talent award. Several Miss Amarillo Area's also have won Miss Texas Talent and Swimsuit Preliminaries. In 2012, Shellie was honored to be selected to be on the Miss Texas Talent Screening Panel where she critique and helped Miss Texas contestants. Also that year the Miss Texas Producer requested Shellie to be the Choreographer for the Miss Texas Pageant, which was televised in Texas. Shellie was very delighted to be asked, but due to scheduling conflicts, she was not able to take part.
Shellie also serves as a Pageant Field Director. (MTO). She was appointed Coordinator by the Panhandle's Children's Miracle Network (Including National Pancake Day, CMN Telethon and Radiothon), Veteran's Hospital and Medical Center and Khiva Shiners (Raises funds for Children's hospitals) for Miss Texas and Miss Texas's Outstanding Teen title holders to participate and volunteer in their many events and fundraisers. And she received a trophy from the Khiva Shiners for her work as Coordinator.
Shellie was again honored and excited to be a part of coordinating and producing the first Miss and Teen Amarillo Latina Pageant. She was hired by Univision to help coordinate and choreographing the whole pageant. She worked with and trained 44 Miss and Teen contestants for 5 hours every Sunday for 6 weeks before the pageant. Training included modeling, interview training, wardrobe consulting and pageant rehearsals of the production.
Currently Shellie is The Bridal Fashion Show of Amarillo Coordinator & Modeling Adviser which takes place at the Amarillo Civic Center. And she is also the Coordinator for the Amarillo Opera Ambassadors. The Opera's performances take place at the Amarillo Civic Center Globe News Center.
